The timber
Indian rosewood is dense and figured. Polished, the grain reads burgundy in daylight and near-black when the room is dim.
Mantapa · Indian rosewood
Open pavilions, temple cabinets, and devotional seats. Hand-carved in India, finished for prayer rooms wherever an order comes from.

01 — Collection

02 — The pavilion
A mantapa is a pillared pavilion. In a temple it is architecture. In a home it is the same idea, carved in wood and stood against a wall.
Indian rosewood is dense and figured. Polished, the grain reads burgundy in daylight and near-black when the room is dim.
Turned pillars, pierced jali, inlay, kalasha crowns, and bells. The amount of carving is part of the drawing, not an afterthought.
Pieces leave finished. Doors and drawers are fitted, then the mantapa is wrapped, blocked, and crated.
03 — Commission
Country, wall, ceiling, deity, and wood. A reply comes from the workshop. Price follows the drawing, and nothing is cut until that drawing is agreed.
